The Marine Sanctuary Alliance (MSA) is a coalition of groups and individuals dedicated to establishing a marine sanctuary in the waters between the Channel Islands Marine Sanctuary and the Monterey Bay Marine Sanctuary. These waters include the most significant upwelling on the west coast, providing food for the north Pacific Ocean.

SLO County first proposed adding these waters to a sanctuary in 1990 in this pdf file. The bibliography for this proposal is in this pdf file.

A promo video on the kelp forest in these waters is at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=__-ODi7cYLM&feature=youtu.be

You can read a series of articles about why our waters need marine sanctuary protection by clicking Marine Sanctuary Articles in the navigation frame at the top of this page. In the same place is also a link to some of the Ocean Critters that live in our marine environment.

You can visit FaceBook at CCC Marine Sanctuary Allliance.

The MSA is affiliated with the Santa Lucia Chapter of the Sierra Club and the San Luis Obispo Chapter of Surfrider Foundation.
